Patna: Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has asked the industries department officials to take all the necessary steps to increase the ethanol production as the state has huge potential to produce ethanol from sugarcane.
Addressing a meeting of the government officers, he said, increasing ethanol production will help in increasing income of the sugarcane farmers that will ultimately boost the sugarcane cultivation in the state.
He stated that during his first term as the CM between 2005 and 2010 he had sent a detailed proposal to the centre to increase ethanol production in Bihar but the UPA government had not accepted it. “The Central government has now taken up the ethanol production issue on priority basis and I am happy that Bihar will be benefited from this. Bihar was the first state to identify the potential of the ethanol production and we are glad that the centre is now working on it,” he said.
