Former minister asks government to start Sanjivani sugar factory in next crushing season

Ponda, Goa: Sudin Dhavalikar, Former PWD minister and MLA from Marcaim, said the government should start Sanjivani sugar factory in the upcoming crushing season and thereafter revive it by obtaining Rs 100 crore loan under the Central scheme.

According to the news report published in Herald Goa, criticizing the government for not taking a decision over the revival of a sugar factory, Dhavalikar said, “I had discussed the issue of revival of the sugar factory with Union Minister Nitin Gadkari, former CM late Manohar Parrikar and ex-Agriculture Minister Vijai Sardesai through funds available under Central Government scheme. As per the scheme, the central government will bear 60 per cent share and the state will pay the remaining amount.”

He has asked the state chief minister to look into the matter so the factory can be revived. The factory helps 4,000 people to earn a livelihood.
