Uttarakhand: Farmers under the leadership of former chief minister Harish Rawat launched an agitation for sugarcane price announcement. Rawat along with the cane farmers launched sit-in agitation on Monday outside the gate of the sugar mill for their demand.
Farmers from the Tarai region depend on the sugarcane crop as the region is the sugar belt of the state. The farmers’ income depends on the income they get from sugarcane crops. Farmers say that the government is not increasing the purchase rate of cane which is affecting farmers’ income.
