Pune: Sugarcane crushing season in Maharashtra is in the final phase as 186 sugar mills have closed their season. Four sugar mills still Continue the operations.
According to the Sugar commissionerate, 190 sugar mills have produced 1062.11 lakh quintal sugar by crushing 1012 lakh tonne sugarcane till May 16. The mills have recorded a sugar recovery rate of 10.50 per cent.
Total 43 sugar mills from the Solapur division have closed their operations. Other mills that have closed operations are 37 from Kolhapur, 26 from Nanded, 31 from Pune, 25 from Ahmednagar, 19 from Aurangabad, 3 from Nagpur and 2 from Amravati.
