A 500 KL/day capacity bioethanol plant would be set up through the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between GAIL (India) and Gujarat Alkalies & Chemicals. The MoU signed on Friday brings an investment of Rs 1,000 crore to Gujarat.
As per the MoU, both the companies would work jointly to set up 500 KL/day ethanol plant and tap other opportunities of mutual interest.
As per news report published in business-standard.com, the estimated cost of the project is Rs 1,000 crore. Corn/broken rice would be used as feedstock for generating ethanol, which will be used for blending in petrol.
