Sugar Mills in India have signed contracts to export 72 lakh tonnes of sugar so far in the 2021-22 crushing season. In the ongoing season, India may export 85 lakh tonnes of sugar to the global market.
According to the Indian Sugar Mills Association (ISMA), over 72 lakh tonnes of sugar export have been contracted so far. Out of that, physical exports by the end of March, 2022 are expected to be around 56 – 57 lakh tonnes. News from the international trade houses indicate that global market is expecting 85 lakh tonnes of sugar exports from India, in the current season.
Sugar mills in India have produced 309.87 lakh tonnes of sugar till March 31, 2022, which is 31.16 lakh tonnes more compared to the last season. The mills had produced 278.71 lakh tonnes of sugar during the same period last year.
