Goa: No takers for the redevelopment of Sanjivani sugar mill project

Porvorim, Goa: Goa’s sole sugar factory remains non-operational, and attempts to revive it as an ethanol production plant have hit a roadblock, Agriculture Minister Ravi Naik informed the Legislative Assembly on Friday. Plans to convert it into an ethanol production plant have not received a response.

Sanjivani Sahakari Sakhar Karkhana Ltd. (SSSKL), a state-run enterprise established by the state’s first Chief Minister Dayanand Bandodkar in Dharbandora, South Goa, to promote sugarcane cultivation, is currently inactive, Naik said in a written reply.

Naik mentioned that SSSKL currently lacks an elected board of directors. He added, “As a result, the State Government has appointed an Administrator to manage the Society’s affairs.”
