Goa: Sugarcane farmers appeal to Chief Minister to extend special scheme

Sugarcane farmers have urged Chief Minister Pramod Sawant to extend the special subsidy scheme for another five years or until alternative solutions are implemented. They voiced concerns over the government’s inability to replace the defunct Sanjivani Sugar Factory and the absence of a clear policy on the matter, reported Digitalgoa.com

With the subsidy set to expire this year, farmers highlighted their reliance on the scheme and called for continued financial assistance until a permanent resolution is reached. In a meeting held today, the farmers decided to formally submit their request to the government.
