Gola Gokarannath, Uttar Pradesh: The Rashtriya Kisan Shakti Sangathan will hold a meeting on November 5 at the sugarcane committee office to plan a strategy for their movement demanding payment for sugarcane, reports Live Hindustan.
Santosh Singh, the acting district president, stated that the organization’s state president, Patel Shrikrishna Verma, had earlier sent a memorandum to the secretaries of the district’s sugarcane committees, the district sugarcane officer, district officials, and the sugarcane commissioner. The memorandum demanded that the sugar mills clear last season’s pending dues by October 30 and ensure payment for sugarcane purchased in the 2024-25 crushing season within 14 days. It also called for notarized affidavits to be submitted to the sugarcane committees.
However, the sugar mills have neither cleared the dues from the last season nor submitted the required affidavits. Singh pointed out that despite this, employees and officials were notified that the Gola and Khambhar Kheda sugar mills would begin the new crushing season on November 8.
Members of the organization expressed their frustration, noting that they have not received payments for sugarcane sold over a year ago and are now being faced with legal action for demanding it. The officials emphasized that the organization would not remain silent and would chart the next course of action during the November 5 meeting at the Gola sugarcane committee office.
