Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh: The growing efforts to produce more ethanol from maize have drawn the interest of farmers. With the initiative of Indian Glycols Limited (IGL), located in GIDA, farmers from nearby districts are increasingly taking up maize cultivation, reported Live Hindustan.
Under IGL’s Maize Growth Project, farmers are also being provided with necessary support and facilities. Agricultural scientist Dr. Ramnivas Bagadia, regional officer Rohit Kumar, and IGL official Yashovardhan Pandey are conducting field visits to encourage farmers to cultivate summer maize.
Farmers have been assured that IGL will purchase maize directly from them at the Minimum Support Price (MSP), ensuring fair compensation. The maize will be used for ethanol production in the distillery, reported Live Hindustan.
IGL Business Head and UP Distillers Association (UPDA) President, S.K. Shukla, stated that the company is actively working to boost maize production in areas near the distillery. A dedicated team is continuously reaching out to farmers to support and expand maize farming for ethanol production.
Excellent decision to increase ethanol production through Maize crop. It is suggested that there is a need to limit the area under Maize crop in India. Maize crop reduces soil feasibility very fastly, than any other crop. Maize crop decreases soil fertility three times more, when compared to sugar cane crop. Sugar cane crop has many advantages including increase of soil fertility. The planning is needed considering the climate and need for crop growings.Best Wishes. Dr.Patil. India.
