New Delhi: The Indian government has extended the timelines for lifting of sugar for export from mills by 15 days, that is till July 20,2022. On June 6, government had issued combined Export Release Order for mills for quantity of 8 LMT of sugar.
As per notification, permission was granted to sugar mills to dispatch/lift a total quantity of 8 LMT of sugar for export within 30 days from the date of issuance of the order. Though mills are trying to dispatch allotted quantity of sugar for export within stipulated time frame, but due to logistic issues and onset of rainy season, sugar mills in some regions are facing problems in timely lifting of sugar for export, therefore, it has been decided to extend the time line for lifting of sugar for export from sugar mills by 15 days.
Recently, the global shortage of sugar has triggered the demand, therefore Indian government by taking a precautionary step capped sugar export to 100 lakh metric tonnes (LMT) for season 2021-22.
