In an announcement on November 26, the Food Ministry allocated a monthly sugar quota of 22 lakh metric tonnes (LMT) for December 2024, which is lower than the quantity allocated in December 2023.
In December 2023, the government had allocated a monthly sugar quota of 24 LMT for domestic sale.
For November 2024, the government allocated a similar sugar quota of 22 LMT.

According to market experts, the government is taking steps to ensure stable sugar prices, but due to the new sugar season, sugar prices are expected to trade on the lower side.
