Mangaluru: Government is promoting ethanol production in the country and as a part of it we are expecting that 300 bioethanol generating plants would be set up in 2 years, said union minister Nitin Gadkari, reports Deccan Herald.
He was speaking at a programme organized by the Kanara Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) in association with the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), Kanara Industries Association (KII), and CREDAI in Mangaluru.
Bioethanol is environmentally friendly when compared to petrol and diesel and can be produced using rice, corn, biomass, and sugarcane, Minister said.
Speaking about green hydrogen, he said that there are several opportunities in India to produce green hydrogen in the country and a car operating on green hydrogen would be launched soon in India on a pilot basis to see the feasibility of the project here. European countries are already using green hydrogen, he further added.
