Salem: Former Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami has welcomed the demand made by sugarcane farmers to increase the percentage of ethanol in petrol, reports The Hindu.
He was speaking at a farmer’s conference, Vazhvurimal Maandu in Salem on Friday.
The conference was organised by the Federation of Tamil Nadu Agriculturalists Association.
Addressing the gathering, Palaniswami said the government’s decision of blending ethanol with petrol would help in increasing sugarcane cultivation.
Center is encouraging ethanol production by providing subsidies, he said.
