The sugar mills in Bardoli and Chalthan, located in Surat district, will now expand their offerings to include power generation alongside sugar, bagasse, and molasses.
Bardoli Sugar has set up a 21 MW power generation facility, while Chalthan Sugar has established a 10 MW and a 3 MW plant. Bardoli Sugar is projected to generate electricity worth Rs. 20 crore annually, while Chalthan Sugar may generate around Rs. 8 crore from its operations.
Bardoli, and Chalthan sugar mills will utilize the power they generate for their own operations, with any excess power being sold to the government. These new facilities are expected to be operational within the next four months. Power generation will occur during the operational hours of the boiler from October-November to March-April.
