With an aim to revive the sugar industry, Guyana Sugar Corporation (GuySuCo) plans to hire 3000 workers. Zulfikar Mustapha, Minister of Agriculture, informed this on the occasion of felicitation of workers for their contribution to the sugar sector.
Addressing the gathering, he said, “GuySuCo was employing more than 16,000 persons a few years ago. More than 50,000 persons were depending on the sugar sector. Now the government plans to revive the sugar sector and would hire 3000 sugarcane workers.”
Around 100 workers were felicitated for their contribution to the sugar sector for several years on the occasion.
