Garhmukteshwar(Hapur), Uttar Pradesh: A monthly meeting of BKU (Tikait) was held at the Camp Office on Syana Road on Friday. During the meeting, a warning was issued to Simbhaoli Sugar Mill on May 1st for non-payment of outstanding sugarcane dues, reported Amar Ujala.
As per news report, while presiding over the meeting, Tehsil Coordinator Vinod Sharma stated that despite the conclusion of the crushing season, the sugar mills are not ready to make payment to the sugarcane farmers. This has led to difficulties for the farmers in admitting their children to schools, purchasing books, uniforms, and other essential items. Moreover, they are compelled to take loans for essential tasks.
Tehsil President Shyamsundar Tyagi mentioned that despite repeated protests, the mill management is not prepared to pay sugarcane dues.
Sugar mills in the state claim that due to low sugar prices, export curbs on sugar, and restrictions on ethanol production, their financial prospects have been impacted, leading to delays in sugarcane payments.
On the other hand, the state government is taking steps to ensure that sugar mills make timely payments.
