Chandigarh: Stating that the sugar mills are running in loss, Haryana chief minister Manohar Lal Khattar said any immediate hike in sugarcane prices is not possible. He also stated that the current prices of sugarcane at Rs 340 per quintal are highest in the country.
He shared information during a calling attention motion moved by opposition MLAs of Congress in Haryana Assembly related to the sugarcane farmers who are demanding hike in the cane prices.
Over the cane price, Opposition had launched a scathing attack stating Haryana government has failed to address the plight of sugarcane farmers. Cane growers in the state are demanding to declare Rs 370 per quintal of sugarcane.
