Haryana: Ethanol plants to be set up to help sugar mills to recover losses

Rohtak, Haryana: The Haryana government will set up ethanol plant to help cooperative sugar mills to recover losses, state cooperation minister Banwari Lal said, reported The Times of India.

The minister was speaking after inaugurating the 68th crushing session of Rohtak Cooperative Sugar Mill located in Bhali Anandpur village.

According to the minister, a 120 KLPD capacity ethanol plant will be set up in Rohtak Cooperative Sugar Mill, to which Meham Cooperative Sugar Mill will also be connected. Ethanol plant of 68 KLPD capacity has been established in Shahbad Cooperative Sugar Mill.

Minister Lal, who remotely commenced the crushing session in collaboration with former minister Manish Grover and the mill’s managing director, Major Gayatri Ahlawat, highlighted the state government’s commitment to bolstering the crushing capacity of cooperative sugar mills. The move is intended to ensure that every sugarcane crop from the state’s farmers is processed within the state itself. The introduction of a token system at the mills has expedited the weighing process for farmers.

Moreover, Minister Lal asserted that both Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar have undertaken numerous measures for the welfare of farmers. Emphasizing the state government’s dedication to providing the highest sugarcane prices in the country, he stated Chief Minister Khattar’s announcement of a Rs 14 per quintal increase, bringing the total price to Rs 386 per quintal. Additionally, the Chief Minister pledged a further Rs 14 per quintal increase for the following year, setting the future price of sugarcane at Rs 400 per quintal.
