Haryana: Farmers to get information about cane crushing on their mobiles

Chandigarh, Haryana: Cooperative sugar mills in Haryana will commence sugarcane crushing from the first week of November. Farmers will receive mobile notifications specifying when to bring their sugarcane to the mills, reported Dainik Jagran.

Dr. Banwari Lal, Minister of Cooperation, met with representatives of farmers’ organizations on Tuesday and informed them that the target for this year is to crush 424 lakh quintals of sugarcane with a sugar recovery rate of 10 per cent. Payment for sugarcane will be made promptly.

The minister also stated plans to enhance the capacity and production of cooperative sugar mills, creating clusters to establish ethanol plants. The ethanol plant at Shahabad has already commenced operations, and another one in Panipat is in the pipeline.

Dr. Banwari Lal highlighted that cooperative sugar mills are diversifying their production capabilities by producing refined sugar, bagasse, and biogas, among other products.
