Karnal, Haryana: Haryana’s Karnal cooperative sugar mill is set to start crushing sugarcane on November 14, the first of the state’s 11 cooperative sugar mills to do so, reported Amar Ujala.
Mill Managing Director Hitendra Kumar said on Thursday that preparations are in full swing for the start of crushing. He inspected the mill along with other senior officials and reviewed the work ahead of crushing commencement.
“We are working round the clock to ensure that the mill is ready to start crushing on November 14,” Kumar said. “We have already received the necessary clearances from the government.”
The other 11 cooperative sugar mills in Haryana are expected to start crushing between November 20 and November 25.
The start of the crushing season is a major event for the sugarcane farmers of Haryana. It provides them with an opportunity to sell their sugarcane and earn a livelihood.
