Haryana: Minister urges farmers to increase cane cultivation area

Cooperation Minister Arvind Sharma has urged the farmers to increase the area under cane cultivation stating that the government is committed towards the welfare of farmers. He appealed while inaugurating the 34th crushing season of the Kaithal Cooperative Sugar Mill via video conference.

Sharma stressed that sugarcane farming offers multiple benefits, including increased income and enhanced soil health. “Those who have stopped growing sugarcane should reconsider its cultivation. It not only boosts income but also enhances soil fertility,” he said.

Highlighting Haryana’s support for farmers, Sharma noted that the state offers the highest price for sugarcane in the country. He stated that the sugar mill has prepared a comprehensive Sugarcane Development Plan for the season to offer various facilities to farmers. Efforts will be made to ensure that sugarcane farmers face no difficulties and timely payments are made to them.

“The government is committed to the welfare of all sections of society. Every stalk of sugarcane in farmers’ fields will be procured,” Sharma assured the farmers.

Kaithal Cooperative Sugar Mill Managing Director Krishna Kumar spoke about the mill’s accomplishments, including its recognition for technical efficiency and cane development at the national level. He urged farmers to supply clean sugarcane and called on the mill’s staff to perform their duties with dedication.
