Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini on Thursday emphasized the crucial role of the cooperative movement in driving economic growth and urged citizens to actively participate in cooperatives to help achieve the vision of Viksit Bharat – Viksit Haryana (Developed India – Developed Haryana). The Chief Minister made these remarks during the concluding ceremony of the 71st National Cooperative Week in Gurugram.
He said a new state-of-the-art cooperative sugar mill will be established in Narayangarh soon. He also stated that the country’s largest cooperative mustard oil mill would be set up in Rewari.
Saini further shared that the Cooperative sugar mills in Panipat, Rohtak, Karnal, Shahabad, and Gohana earned Rs 63 crore by selling 13 crore units of electricity to the State Power Grid during the 2023-24 crushing season.
In an official statement, Saini shared several proposals aimed at benefiting local farmers, including the promotion of local products in national and international markets, setting up facilities for crop storage, processing, and marketing, and training women’s self-help groups in skills development, financial literacy, and leadership. He also emphasized the need for skill development programs and entrepreneurship initiatives for the youth, alongside the adoption of digital payment systems and e-governance practices to improve operational efficiency.
The Chief Minister called for a public-private partnership model to maximize resources and expertise. He also proposed the creation of a unified brand for Haryana’s products, similar to AMUL, which could help elevate local goods, such as millets like Shri Anna, to a wider audience.
On the same occasion, Cooperation Minister Arvind Kumar Sharma stated that the state government is actively working to promote the cooperative movement, highlighting various initiatives aimed at strengthening cooperative societies throughout Haryana.
