Panipat, Haryana: The 2024–25 crushing season at the Panipat Cooperative Sugar Mill concluded on April 10. This season, the mill led all 11 cooperative sugar mills in Haryana—including 10 under the cooperative sector and one HAFED mill in Assandh, by crushing a 62.10 lakh quintals of sugarcane, reported Dainik Tribune.
Panipat was also the top performer among the four cooperative mills in the state, Panipat, Karnal, Shahabad, and Rohtak, that are equipped with power generation turbines. During this season, the Panipat mill exported 4.31 crore units of electricity from its Naultha power house to the Haryana Power Utilities (HVPN), generating a revenue of Rs. 27.29 crore.
Sugar Mill Managing Director Mandeep Kumar held a meeting on Thursday to review the season’s performance and congratulated all officers and staff for securing the top spot in both cane crushing and power sales among the state’s cooperative and HAFED mills. The meeting was attended by Chief Engineer Rajkumar, Chief Chemist B.S. Hooda, Deputy Chief Engineer Ravi Maan, Engineer Kashi Nath Sahu, Superintendent Surender Sharma, and PA Vijay Rathi.
Mandeep Kumar shared the mill’s next goals, which include increasing the sugarcane cultivation area in Panipat and encouraging farmers to plant early maturing and high-recovery varieties such as CO-0118 and CO-15023. Currently, sugarcane is cultivated on 28,914 acres in the district, and efforts are underway to expand this.
Under the leadership of Cane Manager Kartar Singh, several teams from the cane department are visiting different parts of the district to raise awareness among farmers.
After the meeting, Mandeep Kumar inspected the cane chain and rollers that were opened following the closure of the mill.
