Haryana: Plans to introduce small cranes and harvesters at sugar mills on trial basis

Rohtak: Haryana’s Cooperation Minister, Arvind Sharma, encouraged farmers to expand sugarcane cultivation on Thursday. He also assured the farmers of the government’s support to the sugarcane sector.

To tackle labour shortages, he announced plans to introduce small cranes and harvesters at sugar mills on a trial basis.

Speaking at the launch of the sugarcane crushing season at the Meham Cooperative Sugar Mill, Sharma emphasized the importance of increasing productivity and supporting government initiatives aimed at growth.

“The government is dedicated to addressing farmers’ concerns and improving their earnings,” Sharma stated during the event.

The minister officially inaugurated the crushing season by operating a tractor-trolley filled with sugarcane. He was joined by Rajya Sabha Member of Parliament (MP) Ramchandra Jangra. Farmers who delivered the first batch of sugarcane were honoured at the event.
