Haryana: Shahabad cooperative sugar mill tops in sugar production and cane crushing

Kurukshetra/Shahabad: The Shahabad cooperative sugar mill has secured the top position in Uttar Pradesh among all cooperative sugar mills for sugarcane crushing, sugar recovery, sugar production, electricity supply, and timely cane payments. The mill has so far earned 29 national awards and five state-level awards, becoming a model for initiatives such as Aatmanirbhar Bharat (self-reliant India) and the goal of doubling farmers’ income, reports Amar Ujala.

Captain Shakti Singh, Managing Director of the Cooperative Sugar Mills Federation, recently visited the Shahabad mill to review its operations. He was welcomed by the mill’s Managing Director, HCS Virendra Chaudhary, and Distillery Manager Dr. R.K. Saroha.

Congratulating the management for leading the state in key performance areas, Captain Singh praised the timely payments made to farmers. He also appreciated Chief Accounts Officer Rajeev Kumar Dhiman for ensuring prompt cane payments, and Chief Engineer Satbir Singh Saini for overseeing the crushing of nearly 60 lakh quintals of sugarcane and achieving a sugar recovery rate of 10.30 percent.

So far, the mill has produced 5.72 lakh quintals of sugar and exported 3.40 crore electricity units. Due to the high quality of sugar produced, the mill has been able to fetch the best prices in the market.
