Haryana’s Cooperation Minister Arvind Sharma said that sugarcane farmers in the state will now receive payment for their crops within three to four days of harvest. He assured that the government would ensure smooth operations and eliminate any difficulties for sugarcane growers. Harvesting machines will be deployed soon to assist in the cutting of sugarcane, and experts will be brought in to provide proper training to farmers, reported Amar Ujala.
He made these remarks during the start of a sugar mill’s operations in Dahar village, Panipat, on Tuesday. While addressing the gathering, he also inquired about the sugarcane crushing targets at the Panipat and Shahbad sugar mills, emphasizing that the number of sugarcane farmers should not decline under any circumstances. He assured that farmers would be provided with all necessary support and that their dignity and well-being would be prioritized.
Minister Sharma further stated that the sugar mills in the state, which had been operating at a loss for years, would soon be revived. The old plant at the Sonipat sugar mill is functioning well, and the Karnal sugar mill, which had a profit of ₹18 crore, is expected to generate ₹30 crore this year. Similarly, he expressed hope that the Panipat sugar mill would perform in a similar manner.
