Kolhapur: The heavy rain lashed Kolhapur district, resulting in crop damage in about 506 villages.
According to the media report, sugarcane, soyabean, groundnut and paddy crops have been affected. The crops grown near the banks of Panchganga River also damaged. Sugarcane fields were submerged at several places. There are chances of the crop rotting if it remains underwater for a long time.
As per an initial estimate, crops grown over 22,000 hectare are feared to be damaged due to the incessant rainfall.
