Chandigarh: Former chief minister and leader of the opposition Bhupinder Singh Hooda have urged the state government to hike the SAP for sugarcane on a priority basis, reports Tribune India.
Agitation of farmers for a hike in SAP for cane is justified, he said.
A delegation of farmers met Hooda and he assured them that the Congress is with farmers and the party had raised the issue in the Assembly also.
Farmers are compelled to agitate as the government has not increased a penny this year despite increased input costs, he said.
