Huge investment: Nile Sugar spearheading sugar beet cultivation and sugar production in Uzbekistan

Nile Sugar is leading efforts in sugar beet cultivation and sugar production in Jizzakh. With a total investment of $400 million, the project aims to grow sugar beets on 50,000 hectares using water-efficient technologies. A new sugar factory will also be built, designed to process 12,000 tons of sugar beets daily and produce 200,000 tons of sugar annually, reported Daryo.

The company has chosen a 102-hectare site in the Khonimkurgan MFY of Gallaorol district for the factory, largely due to its proximity to existing infrastructure.

“We are prepared to collaborate on securing water supply for both irrigation and sugar production,” stated Minister Khamrayev during a recent meeting, indicating government support for the initiative.

Emad Farid highlighted the significance of agricultural land and water resources for the factory’s success.

“We conducted tests on sugar beet cultivation in Gallaorol, and the results were promising. The product quality and environmental conditions have met our expectations,” he said.

The project also includes plans to enhance irrigation systems, such as constructing water reservoirs and adopting water-saving technologies like drip and sprinkler irrigation. These initiatives aim to ensure a consistent water supply for year-round sugar beet cultivation.
