Panaji: The state government is looking as if they can revive ailing Sanjivani sugar mill and will soon float a tender for appointing a consultant to prepare a feasibility report. Govind Gaude, minister for cooperation said the focus will be on finance and sugarcane supply.
He said, “We already have three such reports regarding revival of the mill. One report from National Sugar Institute estimates Rs 186 crore for revival of the mill.” Gaude said that he would not like to pump such a large amount of public money in the mill, unless a feasibility report is prepared.
“I want factory should start operations as many families are dependent on it but some Farmers’ associations want it shut,” he said.
According to the Navhind Times, he said that I am not in support of closing down this mill as livelihood of many families is depended on the same.
