Lucknow: The Uttar Pradesh government is developing a strategy to ensure that sugarcane farmers receive their payments within approximately one week.
In response to a supplementary question posed by SP MLAs Atul Pradhan and Mahendra Nath Yadav, Sugarcane Minister Chaudhary Laxmi Narain Singh stated that this year alone, around 21 sugar mills settled farmers’ cane payments within three to seven days.
So far, 83 factories have paid 100% of the dues to the farmers since the end of cane crushing in May.
Chaudhary further mentioned if there is cooperation from all quarters, from next year 100 per cent dues would be paid in one week. He also assured that by the start of the next season, no cane payments to farmers would be pending.
