New Delhi [India], September 24, (ANI): A low-pressure system formed over the West Central Bay of Bengal is set to bring heavy rain and thunderstorms adjoining the northwest Bay off North Andhra – South Odisha coasts. A shear zone runs roughly along 16°N over north peninsular India between 3.1 km to 7.6 km above mean sea level tilting southwards with height.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has warned about heavy rain in isolated places in Krishnagiri, Dharmapuri, and Tirupattur districts today.
On September 24 and 25, light to moderate rain with Thunderstorm and lightning is likely to occur at a few places over North Tamilnadu; at one or two places over South Tamil Nadu and over Puducherry and Karaikal area.
Light to moderate rain is likely to occur at isolated places over Tamilnadu, Puducherry and Karaikal areas, which will occur from September 26 to September 20.
Strong surface winds with speed reaching 30-40 kmph are likely to prevail over Tamilnadu, Puducherry and Karaikal areas tomorrow.
The IMD Forecast predicts moderate rain with lightning likely to occur in North Tamil Nadu in the next seven days and temperature likely to soar 2-4°C above normal. Due to humid air and high temperatures, hot and discomforting weather is very likely to prevail in isolated pockets over Tamilnadu. It also predicts that there will be hot and uncomfortable weather in isolated areas of Puducherry and Karaikal area.
In Chennai and its suburbs for the next 24 hours, there will be partly cloudy sky conditions and rain is expected in a few areas. The weather with the possibility of thunderstorms, lightning, and light to moderate rain is predicted. The maximum temperature is forecast to reach around 36-37°C, while the minimum temperature is expected to be around 26-27°C. (ANI)
