Aurangabad, Maharashtra, May 17 (UNI) The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Friday forecast that the mercury levels across the state of Maharashtra will surge from May 19.
The maximum temperatures in Vidarbha, Marathwada and Khandesh regions of the state are likely to increase significantly and the trend will continue till May 25, an official statement said.
The heat in the metropolitan city of Mumbai may increase between May 18-21, statement added.
The forecast said that the maximum temperature in the Chandrapur district may shot up to 47 degrees Celsius.
The districts of Akola, Nagpur, and Wardha may simmer at 46 degrees Celsius whereas the maximum temperatures in Dhule, Jalgaon, Nanded, and Parbhani districts along with the remaining districts of Vidarbha region are expected to reach 45 degrees Celsius.
The Marathwada and Khandesh regions may sizzle at 42 degrees Celsius.
