The country has achieved about 12.48% ethanol blending as of May end. As per the report obtained from sources, the total ethanol contracted from sugar-based distillery units is around 231 cr litres, and the supplied quantity is around 166 cr litres as of 26th May 2024.
Ethanol contracted from Sugarcane Juice is around 64 cr litres, and ethanol supplied from it is around 56 cr litres. The ethanol contracted from B-Heavy molasses and C Heavy molasses is around 113 cr litres and around 54 cr litres respectively, whereas the supplied quantity from B Heavy molasses and C Heavy molasses is 82 cr litres and 28 cr litres respectively.
Moving onto grain-based distillery units, the total ethanol contracted is around 416 cr litres, however, only 162 cr litres of ethanol has been supplied so far.
Ethanol contracted from Damaged Foodgrains is around 150 cr litres and the total supplied is around 66 cr litres. Ethanol contracted from maize is around 245 cr litres, and total supplies are 96 cr litres. An ethanol contract of about 21 cr litres is given to FCI rice, but due to the ban on ethanol production from FCI rice, there are nil ethanol supplies from the feedstock.
In total, from sugar-based and grain-based distillery units, the total ethanol contracted is around 647 cr litres, of which around 328 cr litres have been supplied until the above mentioned period.
