The Indian government aims to boost ethanol production, therefore it is taking various steps to uplift the biofuel output.
The Central government is planning to achieve 12% ethanol blending with petrol in 2022-23 and a meeting of the officials from the food, public distribution and petroleum ministries was organised on Monday to check the progress in this direction, reports Business World.
The meeting was attended by secretaries from both the ministries and oil marketing companies apart from the chairman of the Food Corporation of India (FCI).
The Ethanol Blended Petrol (EBP) programme has been initiated by the government to mix biofuel with petrol to reduce the consumption of fossil fuels.
