India and France can work together to develop robust global sustainable aviation fuel supply chain: Minister

India’s domestic air passenger traffic is expected to reach 300 million by 2030, with around USD 11 billion allocated for airport development, Civil Aviation Minister K. Rammohan Naidu announced on Monday.

During a conference organised by The French Aerospace Industries Association (GIFAS) in the national capital, the minister also said India and France can work together to develop a robust global SAF (Sustainable Aviation Fuel) supply chain.

Naidu noted that India is among the fastest-growing civil aviation markets in the world, with airlines expanding both their fleets and networks to meet increasing demand.

He projected that domestic air passenger traffic will reach 300 million by 2030, and an additional 200 airports are anticipated to be developed over the next 20 to 25 years.

Currently, India has a total of 157 airports, heliports, and waterdromes, with the number of operational airports expected to rise to 200 by the end of 2025.

The minister highlighted the significant potential for collaboration between India and France.
