India has an opportunity to become a leader in green hydrogen production, said International Energy Agency (IEA) president Fatih Birol, reports the Economic Times.
Speaking on the sidelines of the G20 event Birol said, “India will soon overtake China as the largest driver of global oil demand growth.”
The reason behind this is that China has increased its focus on electric vehicles reducing the demand and consumption of oil.
“Rapid electrification of cars and buses in China has lowered the oil demand in China,” he said.
We hope that demand for oil in India would also go down as the emphasis on electric vehicles increases, he said.
10% ethanol blending has helped India save US$2 billion equivalent of oil imports, said Birol.
