New Delhi: The sugar export policy for the 2022-23 crushing season will be announced by the government in a week, said a government official.
Speaking to reporters, Food Secretary Sudhanshu Pandey said, “The sugar export policy for 2022-23 would be announced in a week.”
The first advance estimates of ISMA suggest that the sugar production is expected to be at 36.5 million tonnes in the 2022-23 season.
According to ISMA, with an opening balance as on 1st 2022 of around 55 lakh tons, estimated sugar production for the season 2022-23 of around 365 lakh tons and estimated domestic sales of around 275 lakh tons will leave additional sugar at around 90 lac tons, which needs to be exported to maintain the same closing stock.
