India to highlight Global Biofuels Alliance at upcoming UN climate summit

New Delhi: India will showcase its Global Biofuels Alliance (GBA) at the upcoming UN Climate Conference (COP28) in the United Arab Emirates, a major oil-producing nation, reported Live Mint.

The alliance, launched in September at the G20 summit hosted by India, aims to promote the use of sustainable biofuels.

As part of its advocacy efforts, the Indian government plans to light the iconic Burj Khalifa with the GBA logo, according to news report in LiveMint. The alliance has expanded rapidly since its inception, with 22 countries agreeing to join.

While the GBA has attracted interest from the UAE, an OPEC+ member, it has yet to gain support from key oil-producing nations such as Saudi Arabia and Russia. The alliance plans to address this by holding an industry roundtable to discuss the implications of the GBA for the energy sector.
