Sugar mills in India are set to report the highest sugar exports in the last 10 years. According to the report, till June end, India has exported 49 lakh tonnes of sugar. Most of the buyers were from markets like Iran, Malaysia and Indonesia.
According to the news report published in Indian Express, Avinash Verma, director general of Indian Sugar Mills Association (ISMA) said, “Another 4-5 lakh tonnes of sugar likely to be shipped out in the next few months. We will be exporting total 53-54 lakh tonne sugar this season as against the target of 60 lakh tonnes.”
The good demand from emerging markets has helped India to achieve record export of sugar this year. However this year the sugar exports are highest in the last ten years. Last year India had exported 38 lakh tonne sugar.
