After achieving the target of selling 10% ethanol blended petrol, India in the next couple of days will start experimental supplies of 20 per cent biofuel mixed petrol, said Oil Minister Hardeep Singh Puri, reports Livemint.
India achieved 10% ethanol blended petrol in June before the deadline November 2022, he said.
E20 petrol will be available at select fuel stations on pilot basis in the next few days, he said.
India’s target to achieve E20 blending was April 1, 2023, but the government had advanced it and in the first phase we will cover 15 cities, the minister said.
Ethanol blending has helped in saving forex of over Rs 41,500 crore, benefitted farmers and reduced GHG (greenhouse gas) emissions of 27 lakh tonnes.
