New Delhi: Wheat exports from India have doubled to USD 1.48 billion during April-September 2022-23 as compared to the same period during the last year, said the commerce ministry on Wednesday, reports Business Standard
During 2021-22 wheat export was USD 630 million from March to September.
The government had banned wheat export in May but some shipments were allowed to meet the food security needs of other countries as per their request.
The ministry stated, “The wheat export increased from USD 630 million in April –September 2021 to USD 1,487 million in April –September 2022.”
The Russia-Ukraine conflict has affected the supply of wheat globally.
