Maharajganj, Uttar Pradesh: IPL Sugar mill Siswa has cleared the cane arrears around 3.60 crores. It comes as a relief for some sugarcane farmers who were suffering from the financial crisis.
According to the news report published in Amarujala.com, however, the mill is yet to clear arrears around Rs 7.43 crore to the cane farmers. District cane officer Jagdish Chandra Yadav said that the mills have been asked to clear the pending arrears to the farmers. Meanwhile, the Gadaura sugar mill also cleared the cane arrears around Rs 1.08 crore.
Sugar mills in Uttar Pradesh are all set to start sugarcane crushing season. Mills claim sector has not fully recovered from the lockdown. Mills are finding it difficult to sustain as sugar sales are down, which has created liquidity problem for them. Therefore they are unable to clear cane dues.
