Indian Sugar Mills Association (ISMA) has estimated that sugar output in Uttar Pradesh would be around 105 lakh tonnes, more than its earlier estimate of 101 lakh tonnes.
According to ISMA, cane yield in Uttar Pradesh is slightly better than expected and therefore the state is expected to produce more sugar after diversion towards production of ethanol.
While sharing data ISMA said sugar output in India was around 311 lakh tonne till April 15. In its April 25 meeting, ISMA lowered the sugar output estimates to 328 lakh tonnes after a diversion to ethanol production for the 2022-23 season.
