Lindsay Jolly, Senior Consultant at ISO, shared his expertise and visionary outlook to the forefront in the discussion on ‘Green Hydrogen: Prospects and Challenges’ at the 64th ISO Council Meeting in Delhi on Tuesday
He shared his perspective on potential of hydrogen as source of energy and role of sugar sector in this field. He was optimistic on growth of green hydrogen as major source of fuel for automobile sector as well as electricity sector. Jolly highlighted hydrogen as the swiss army knife of the energy industry and a key player in achieving net zero CO2 by 2050.
Jolly applauded India’s sugar industry for its potential to produce 1 million tonnes of green hydrogen annually.
He also outlined the challenges for clean hydrogen demand: cost, storage, transport, distribution, infrastructure, & regulatory frameworks, and also proposed ways to overcome them.
India is hosting a global event in the sugar sector, the ‘ISO Council Meeting,’ in New Delhi from June 25th to 27th. Delegates from over 30 countries and representatives from various international organizations are participating to discuss critical issues in the sugar and biofuel sectors.
