Jharkhand : District-level training program on sugarcane production techniques held in Hazaribagh

Chatara: A district-level training program on sugarcane production techniques was organized under the Sugarcane Development Scheme 2024-25 by the Agriculture, Animal Husbandry, and Cooperation Department of the Jharkhand government. The event took place at the ATMA conference hall of the Agriculture Department, reports Live Hindustan.

The training session was taken by Chandan Kumar, Sugarcane Development Department, Hazaribagh, and Dr. Binod Kumar Pandey, Scientist, Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Chatra. It was attended by about 30 women sugarcane growers belonging to Jainpur Jangi Panchayat, who learned about new scientific techniques to get better sugarcane yield as well as compete with the changing market demands of the time. Seed treatment also gained prominence at the training.

Trainer Chandan Kumar discussed frequently occurring diseases among sugarcane crops, identification methods, and treatment procedures. Agricultural scientist Dr. Pandey gave elaborate discussions on soil sampling and the role of soil health cards in quality farming.

Agriculture Department officials, including Sub-Divisional Agriculture Officer Nikhat Parveen, were present at the meeting.
