Powayan, Shahjahanpur (Uttar Pradesh): The sugarcane crushing activities at the Kisan Cooperative Sugar Mill in Karnapur came to a halt on Monday due to technical issues with the machinery, reported Amar Ujala.
The mill officials have stated that the mill would start operations overnight after resolving the issue.
As per news report published in Amar Ujala, the current crushing season at the sugar mill, which commenced on November 18, has seen a total crushing of four lakh quintals of sugarcane in the last 24 days.
“We don’t have any arrangement for staying overnight. It has been cold for three days now, and with the mill closed, weighing is also not taking place. Consequently, we have to sleep on tractor trolleys at night,” said one of the farmers who had come with his cane at the mill gate.
“The pinion of the roller had broken. As a result, crushing operations were halted on Monday morning. Repair work is underway, and there is a possibility of resuming crushing activities late into the night,” informed Danveer Singh, the General Manager of the Kisan Cooperative Sugar Mill, Karnapur.
