Karnataka: Farmers protest for revival of sugar factory in Mudhol

Belagavi, Karnataka: Farmers protested in Mudhol, Bagalkot district, on Friday, demanding that the Ranna Cooperative Sugar Factory be revived, reports The Hindu.

The closing of the factory is causing immense inconvenience to thousands of farmers.

The agitating farmers met at the government Inspection Bungalow and discussed various options if the factory was not restarted promptly. They have resolved to meet the district in-charge Minister R.B. Thimmapur and seek his help in redressing their grievance.

A memorandum submitted to the Tahsildar office asked the government to direct the factory authorities to start operations immediately. It was signed by leaders, including Yallappa Hegde.
