Karnataka: Nanotechnology to boost sugarcane yield in Nipani

Belgavi: In a major step that would help the local farmers, the Halasiddhanath Cooperative Sugar Factory is going to implement nanotechnology to increase the productivity of sugarcane cultivation, reduce the cost of cultivation, and improve land utilization, reports News Karnataka.

Annasaheb Jolle, former MP, announced this and said that this new technology would give a big advantage to the farmers of the region. He also noted that the factory will offer farmers and its members access to various nanotechnology facilities to support these improvements.

Speaking at the inauguration of a drone spraying service organized by the Vedaganga Farmers Producers Union and the Halasiddhanath Cooperative Sugar Factory in Sanyuktashray on Monday, Jolle highlighted the factory’s commitment to assisting both farmers and the sugar industry, even amid financial difficulties. He pointed out that the factory’s ethanol production has been vital in sustaining operations and ensuring that workers are paid on time. Looking ahead, Jolle mentioned that the factory is preparing to process 8,500 tonnes of sugarcane daily in the upcoming season, further strengthening its support for the local agricultural community.
